I came across this site for a book titled "What we could have done with the money".

Basically, it's about how much you could buy with the money spent by the US government to fund the Iraq war since the beginning.

They have a virtual shopping mode where you have the $1,000,000,000,000 fund for the war. Yeap. The zeros are mind boggling. That's one trillion dollars.

I bought myself a Manhattan townhouse, McDonald's franchise, Oil company, fed a starving child from birth to his 18th birthday, protected 100 acres of tropical forest, adopted a polar bear, built a monorail for 10 miles (roughly from my house to school), built a hospital in a third world nation and still have $982,039,696,240 left.

Damn. The world would be a better place if I have that kind of money.

I am really concerned about the current financial crisis. The world is scrambling. It hasn't affected me directly yet and I hope not in a million years. It's so hard to be financially strapped.

Last night, a friend of mine from high school told me that their business went bankrupt. I thought it's nothing serious so I told him to get out of the house the next day and look for a job. He said that he doesn't have the money to commute and look for a job. I was shocked and saddened at the same time.

He told me that it started when they lost a bidding in public school to make P.E. uniforms. Before that, his mom decided to buy the raw materials early since it's getting expensive. Now, there's a lot of cloth in their house and nobody ordered.

I checked asked my dad if we will order some t-shirts to be given away on Christmas season, he said that we won't since everyone not will be giving away free stuff during the tough times.

I have to admit that wrong decisions are lethal in business or even in life. He can't find a job. Few months ago, he was offered a job as a call center agent and he said that he let pride cloud his judgment and didn't take it. Now he can't find a job being a nursing graduate from a not so reputable school.

We should really know how to save money during these tough times. We don't know how long it will be so we should be prepared. Here's some of the things I did to save:
1. I unplugged every appliance that is not being used.
2. I filled a 1-liter plastic bottle (bottled water) and put in the water tank of the toilet bowl. It saves me 1 liter of water per flush.
3. I switch off the aircon when it's not hot. :)

I hope the global meltdown would not last. This is as scary as world war.

I talked to a high ranking official in our school today and was quite happy when she said that she's pro-reproductive health bill. It was very nice talking to her especially with all her knowledge in the Philippine health system.

She also told me some stories about the nastiness of the bishops and their dirty tactics.

Anyway, some of the things she told me are too controversial and I don't want her to get in trouble.

Hmm, what shall I write about? I don't want to write about RH Bill everyday.

I'll just tell you something about renting. I read a post of Ewik about renting, it brought me back to some thoughts I was thinking about before. We have an apartment and another house which we rent out to other people. We are the kindest lessors since we do not yell or shout or even complain when the lessees are late in their payment. Of course that's when we know that they are sincere with their reason for paying late.

It was the best investment you can say. You just have to sit around and wait for the money monthly. If I would be investing on something, it would be to buy apartments.

Which makes me ask, does Filipinos notice that they are not getting anything out of renting?

We have a small business which employs around 7 persons. One day, an employee was asking us to approve his loan from Pag-ibig. I asked him, "Why? What is this for?" He said it was for the deposit of a new place he found. He will rent it. I asked why not apply for a house loan? I even sited our secretary who took out a house loan and pays around 2,000 per month. I said, if your rent is 2,000 per month, then just apply for a house loan, after some time, you own the place already. Unlike in renting, you're just giving money to another person.

He just said that he does not need it for now since he is not yet married. I shrugged my shoulder and passed his application to my father for signing.

I don't like people who are like that. No financial sense, no sense of future planning. There are a lot of opportunities in the money and investment market and yet people are not utilizing them. Then they are complaining that it's not fair.

People still think that credit cards are their worst enemy. And they still believe that lifetime savings would be enough for their retirement. Don't they realize that the inflation rate is higher than the interest in savings account?

Sheesss. When will people learn?

Whoopsie sorry for not posting.

Hmm... what to say... Nothing really. Hihi. Sorry for that. I want to everyone that this blog is still running!

Oh before I forgot. I am busying myself with the support for the Reproductive Health Bill.

I hope you can help spread the word and awareness about the Reproductive Health Bill. We need it badly.

Just to empower you against critics of the bill who are also liars, here are some info:

A. It is not for abortion. It actually discourages abortion.
B. It does not promote promiscuity. It is in the bill that abstinence will be encouraged.
C. Will it teach our Grade 5 students sex? Of course not! Sex education will be started at grade 5 but of course not the whole she bangs. It will be done step by step until they reach maturity.

There you go. We need a reproductive health law now! The US is now in recession and soon it will follow in Asia. We cannot afford more of the same. We should not let the future children suffer just because we are irresponsible and does not empower and educated our people regarding their reproductive health rights.

Wheeww... Had a lot of things in my mind lately. Super stressful.

Anyway, it's all over. Thank God. The dreaded Neuroscience module is over. Honestly, I think it is not that bad but still the most difficult module I encountered so far.

Today, we dissected the cadavers again. Lo and behold, when we uncovered them, we found something that's not nice. Molds. Molds here, molds there and more molds.

Luckily, the molds haven't reached the thorax yet. We decided to just remove all the skin and muscles on the lower extremities leaving only the bones. Everyone who saw what we did were shocked, asking what happened. Even the professor was shocked. I bet he never saw something like that done to a cadaver before.

Well, we have to be radical. Prevention is better than cure. Some would just remove the affected muscles but we decided to just remove all of it. The professor even said, pray later. Hehehe.

My groupmates and I were joking that we'll see the pails of skin and muscle on our room later. Hihi. This is such a destructive side of me. Hehe.
